The last months of 2019
We are almost at the end of 2019 and in these past few months the Chiesi Foundation has been busy on several fronts, ending the year with many successes.
The Burkina Faso NEST - Neonatal Essential Survival Technologies - model was published among the pages of the World Health Organization (WHO) report “Survive and thrive: transforming care for every small and sick newborn”.
In Burundi, at the Autonomous Hospital of Ngozi, the new area dedicated to Kangaroo Mother Care was recently inaugurated.
We also went back to Africa, Nairobi, to attend the second African conference of COINN -The Council of International Neonatal Nurses- organized for the recognition of the role of neonatal nurses in LMICs. On this occasion, we were able to share our experience in the context of the NEST model, especially regarding the NEST training modules dedicated to neonatal nurses.
In addition, we flew to South America, to the city of Cusco, Peru, where the Canadian, Peruvian and Italian GASP team came together for the training and monitoring phase of the new project which started in 2019.
