The Chiesi Foundation supports in 2010 the project “The school of Mekenissa” in Ethiopia in collaboration with the association Fidenza per i bambini nel mondo of Fidenza, Parma, as part of an international solidarity projects in developing countries to support children in difficulty.
The school is situated in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Addis Abbeba and it is attended by 66 children who have aged 5 to 10 years; the school of Mekenissa is the only for free in the city, because families cannot afford payment of a charge.
But the school of Mekenissa means not only access to education but also have the only meal of the day.
The recognized association Addis Fire Association (AFA) asked to be supported for a period of two years allowing it to not disrupt the “continum” of the school; in this period will be activated all ministerial and private channels to ensure to the school a better structured survival.
