European Respiratory News - ERN
European Respiratory News (ERN) was born twenty years ago.
In 1992, the writer was in charge of organizing the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress in Florence.
The initial purpose of the publication was to provide information about the Congress and the ERS, and, more difficulty, to sensitize young Italian chest physicians about the project of a new and unique European Respiratory Medicine – an ambitious goal not without obstacles.
Times have changed, and the ERN has decided to follow suit by going from a national publication to an international journal.
This opportunity has been made possible thanks to a grant from Chiesi Foundation, which has been working for several years to raise Italian research and professional development to the highest European standards. The Foundation’s contribution will be economic, essential in these times of limited resources, as well as cultural and scientific.
European Respiratory News plans on giving periodic updates on these and other initiatives. The journal will also inform the international community on research projects already in progress funded by the Foundation and will publicize future research grant offers and student bursaries as well as innovations in pediatric pulmonolgy also.
