Inauguration of the neonatal care unit at the Saint Camille Hospital in Burkina Faso
Monday, January 23, 2017 has been inaugurated the neonatal care unit of the Saint Camille Hospital in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, with whom the Chiesi Foundation collaborates since 2010. The construction work were initiated in June 2015 and fully funded by the Foundation during the 6 years of cooperation with the hospital.
The inauguration and blessing ceremony of the new unit has been attended by the director of the Saint Camille Hospital in Ouagadoudou, Father Dr. Paul Ouedraogo, Dr. Maria Paola Chiesi, coordinator of the Foundation, a representative of the Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso and spokesman for the wife of the President of the Burkina Faso Republic. In their speeches, they celebrated the success of the Saint Camille as a step forward to provide essential care to sick and premature babies in the capital city and in the Country.
With great pleasure we are also pleased to announce that during the ceremony Dr. Maria Paola Chiesi was named National Order Knight of Burkina Faso, as a recognition of the important contribution of the Foundation's activities in Burkina Faso in the neonatal field and for the approach of the Foundation in assisting the hospital in the path of improvement of neonatal care, not only financially, but also through a technical and operational cooperation with the staff.
Finally, during the ceremony it was launched a solidarity fund for premature babies, aimed at helping the hospital to continue in the efforts and concretely improve the care offered to pathological and premature babies.
