Maurizio Vignola Award 2013
Chiesi Foundation supports the Maurizio Vignola Award, a grant of 20,000 euros assigned to young researchers for their innovative studies and publications in the field of pneumology.
The 2013 MWA has been during the 2013 ERS Congress in Barcelona to:
- Dr Miguel J. Divo for his paper published in 2012 in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine entitled “Comorbidities and risk of mortality in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease” and
- Dr Firdaus A.A. Mohamed Hoesein for his paper published in 2011 in Thorax entitled “CT-quantified emphysema in male heavy smokers: association with lung function decline”.
“The Vignola Award” comments Dr. Paolo Chiesi, President of the Chiesi Foundation, “is one of the tools though which the Foundation fulfils its scope. Supporting young researchers is a drive to enhance scientific research and share biomedical knowledge, which are some of the main intervention areas of the Foundation. Congratulations to the award winning scientists.”
