The publication of the Roadmap is a fundamental milestone. It is the result of the joint work of many organizations working in the field of neonatal care in LMICs. Organizations that have been advocating for the recognition of the professional figure of neonatal nurses and for the promotion of a specific academic curricula in order to guarantee a level of quality neonatal care in those countries. We take this opportunity to thank COINN - Council of International Neonatal Nurses - for its valuable contribution in the composition of this document.
The publication now becomes a crucial tool for policy makers, Ministries of Health and health care organizations to jointly achieve the SDG target to reduce neonatal mortality to less than 12 per 1000 live births by 2030.
