World COPD DAY - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
For World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - COPD – Day, the Chiesi Foundation supports the 2019 campaign promoted by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) “All together to end Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)” with the aim of increasing awareness and enhancing the quality of care of COPD worldwide.
The theme of this year is collaboration, coming together to end or lesson the effects of COPD.
For us, who work in global health within the respiratory field, collaboration is a crucial part in the promotion of our mission: to promote health and alleviate the suffering of patients affected by respiratory diseases. It is collaboration that we find at the base of GASP - Global Access to Spirometry Project - a project derived from the union of diverse teams, from Canada, to Guyana, through to Italy and Peru, with the objective of together improving the management of chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD and Asthma in countries where access to a quality diagnosis and adequate care is not yet guaranteed.
